Workout Tracker Notion Template

Workout Tracker is a Notion template for logging every set you lift. Suggested next weight updates itself from your last session, personal records get flagged automatically, and Push volume and Pull volume roll up from Sets through Sessions to each Program, so Balance shows what you're neglecting.

Who it's for

Who it's for

  • Lifters who want progressive overload suggestions without doing the math themselves
  • Anyone running more than one training program (PPL, Upper/Lower, 5x5) who wants shared exercise history
  • People tracking bodyweight and weighted exercises in the same log
  • Anyone who wants their personal records flagged automatically instead of remembered

What's inside

What's inside

Suggested next weight, computed

It looks at your Last weight and Last reps for that exercise, and adds your Increment once you've hit Target reps โ€” or repeats the same weight if you haven't yet.

Personal records, flagged automatically

Any set that matches or beats an exercise's all-time heaviest weight gets a ๐Ÿ† PR flag, both on the set itself and on that exercise's own Personal records view.

One exercise, every Program

Every set links to both an Exercise and a Session, so one exercise (say, Back Squat) shows its own progress across every Program you've ever used it in.

Push/Pull balance, rolled up twice

Push volume and Pull volume roll from Sets, through Sessions, up to Programs, so Balance can tell you if a Program is neglecting one side; it shows no reading until a Program has logged sets on both.

Bodyweight moves work without a weight

Plank, Hanging Leg Raise, and similar moves can skip Weight entirely โ€” track them by reps or hold time instead, no forced number.

A weekly check-in and Recent PRs

A built-in checklist points you at anything you haven't logged this week, and a Recent PRs card celebrates what you actually hit.

How it works

How it works

Every Set links to both an Exercise and a Session, which is what lets one exercise show its own progress across every Program you've used it in. Suggested next weight reads the most recent logged set for an exercise, and adds the exercise's Increment once you've hit Target reps. Push volume and Pull volume are computed per set, rolled up to Sessions, then rolled up again to Programs, so a Program's Balance can tell you if it's neglecting one side.

How to use

  1. 01

Suggested next weight is never typed by hand โ€” it looks at your Last weight and Last reps for that exercise and adds your Increment once you've hit your Target reps, or repeats the same weight if you haven't yet. Weights are logged in lbs โ€” if you lift in kg, just enter your kg numbers everywhere and read the suggestions the same way, the math doesn't care which unit it is.

  2. 02

๐Ÿ† PR is automatic too โ€” any set that matches or beats an exercise's all-time heaviest weight gets flagged, both on the set itself and in that exercise's own Personal records view.

  3. 03

Every set links to both an Exercise and a Session โ€” that's what lets one exercise (say, Back Squat) show its own progress across every Program you've ever used it in, open its page to see the full history.

  4. 04

Push volume and Pull volume roll all the way up from your Sets, through each Session, to each Program, so Balance tells you if a Program is neglecting one side โ€” it reads "โ€”" until a Program has logged both, not a misleading 0%.

  5. 05

Start today's session and Log a set on the dashboard both create blank rows โ€” link the session to today's Program, and each set to its Exercise and Session, yourself; anything still unlinked shows up in Sessions โ†’ Needs linking or Sets โ†’ Needs linking so nothing gets lost.

  6. 06

Bodyweight moves like Plank or Hanging Leg Raise can skip Weight entirely โ€” Volume just reads 0 for those since there's no external load to multiply; track them by reps or hold time instead. RPE (how hard a set felt, 1โ€“10) is optional too โ€” leave it blank if you don't track it.

Setup

Setup

  1. 01

Duplicate Workout Tracker into your workspace.

  2. 02

Add your usual lifts to Exercises โ€” give each one a Target reps and a weight Increment.

  3. 03

Create a Program for whatever split you actually follow.

  4. 04

Start a Session, log your Sets as you go, and let Suggested next weight tell you what to aim for next time.

  5. 05

Delete the sample rows once you're set up โ€” they're marked ๐Ÿงช.

ยง FAQ

FAQ

Does Notion have a workout tracker?

Not built in. Workout Tracker is a Notion template that adds one: Programs, Exercises, Sessions, and Sets all link together, and every set you log feeds a Suggested next weight for that exercise.

Can Notion track personal records (PRs) automatically?

Yes. Any set that matches or beats an exercise's all-time heaviest weight gets flagged ๐Ÿ† PR, both on the set itself and on that exercise's Personal records view โ€” nothing marked by hand.

Is there a free Notion workout tracker template?

Workout Tracker isn't one of the five free Lite templates. It's included in the $47 one-time Bundle with all 50 templates, and it runs fully on Notion's Free plan.

Can I log workouts in kg instead of lbs in Notion?

Yes. Weight fields are just numbers โ€” log your kg numbers everywhere instead of lbs, and Suggested next weight and PRs work exactly the same, since the math doesn't care which unit you're using.

Does it track bodyweight exercises?

Yes. Moves like Plank or Hanging Leg Raise can skip Weight entirely โ€” track them by reps or hold time, and Volume reads 0 for those sets since there's no external load.
